Ravi Chary is a professional sitar player based out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. Originally hailing from Goa, a haven for all things musical, Ravi was destined to be a musician. Late Pt Prabhakar Chari, his father, a noted tabla player and musicologist, introduced him to the possibilities of a life rich in Indian music. He chose the sitar from a plethora of instruments made available to him by his father. Ravi is the first sitarist to have risen from the Goan landscape. His father was undoubtedly his first guru, but his foray into learning the refinements of the sitar began with Ustad Abdul Karim Khan in Goa, following which he came to Mumbai to learn from Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan. He continues his journey in sitar-dom under the teaching of Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan. The percussion guru, Trilok Gurtu, initiated him into fusion music and Ravi toured with him widely in his early days.
Sweekar Sunil Katti is a professional instrumentalist based out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. He belongs to Etawah Gharana and follows the Gayaki Ang. His performances are a beautiful mix of contemporary and traditional Indian classical music. Music lovers and critics have appreciated Sweekar’s soulful and electrifying performances widely. Merlin Dsouza is a professional keyboardist based out of Mumbai, Maharashtra. Her degree from the Trinity College of Music, London has given her an exposure the magic of music. This talented lady has composed music for Bollywood films, theatre and for advertisements. Touring the world was inevitable since she loves her keyboard so much. Purbayan Chatterjee is a professional sitar player based out of Mumbai, Maharashtra. Purbayan has learned sitar from his father and has been playing passionately since his childhood. Inspired by the sound of Pt Nikhil Banerjee, his music combines the contemporary touch with his own urban sensitivity. His music has been internationally appreciated by jazz greats like Bella Fleck, Chick Corea, and Pat Metheney. Purbayan has performed many times with tabla stalwart, Ustad Zakir Hussain. Clinton Charles D'cunha is a professional keyboardist based out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. He began playing the piano at an early age of five years. He was taught the basic fundamentals of music by his father, Charles D'cunha, a renowned regional singer. Till date, he has been playing the piano in the church, and has participated in several choirs and gospel music competitions from the last 15 years. Further, he went on to study classical piano and theory of music from Trinity College of Music, London and completed his Grade 8 studies at the age of 15. His style incorporates a mix of gospel, pop and rock, and he cites Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Firehouse, Europe, Def Leppard, and Iron Maiden as his influences. Been influenced and inspired during his childhood learning days by the renowned guitarist Rupert Fernandes, and piano brothers Ben and Bosco Fernandez, Clinton was attracted by their gospel, jazz-style piano playing. He honed most of his piano skills by watching and learning Bosco as he played the piano in church. He owes his musicianship to them, and much of their influence can be seen and heard in his style of piano-playing. He took up his future jazz piano studies from Johnny Fernandez, and is currently pursuing an offline course on jazz improvisation and techniques from the ABRSM Jazz Syllabus. He joined the band Sininster Symphony with his engineering college friends and released an album, 'Avaricious Passion', which was ranked high in several music charts. He chose music as his career and began working towards it from 2012, until he met Sanah Moidutty, his college friend and now an upcoming playback singer with whom his work got him noticed and gave him the initial breakthrough in the music industry. Since 2014, Clinton has worked with several artists from the Bollywood music industry, and toured all of India and international venues in South Africa, Malaysia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Canada, and UK. By the end of 2015, he had worked with Bollywood music directors like Pritam, Sachin-Jigar, Sangeet Haldipur as well as several playback singers such as Ash King, Jonita Gandhi, Sonu Kakkar, Anusha Mani, Divya Kumar, Manasi Scott, Madhushree Bhattacharya, Ambili Menon, Siddhanth Bhosle, Shirley Setia, Sharaddha Sharma, Siddharth Basrur, and Thomson Andrews. Currently, he is also working as a music programmer and is working on the background scores of several Bollywood and regional movies. His debut movie, 'Shooter' (ft. Sunil Shetty, Randeep Hooda and Neetu Chandra) is scheduled to release in the year 2016.
Atul Krishan is a professional flutist and composer based out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. He is good at playing fusion, classical, rock and blues music, and is capable of playing bamboo flute, pan flute, recorder, piccolo, algoze, been, and many more instruments. With his imaginative mind and skills in playing the flute, he is quickly winning fame and appreciation of the people. He has performed at many shows in India, as well as in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, South Africa, Kenya, Nairobi, Mombasa, etc. Currently, Atul is working with his own band, Magic of Music, and occasionally joins other bands (Swara, Bombay Bairag). He has also learned from Sh Gurdeep Singh (a disciple of Sh Sham Lal Ji, Banaras Gharana). Atul is pursuing his graduation in music at DAV college, Jalandhar, Punjab. Brothers, Debshankar and Jyotishankar Roy, have been spreading a unique concoction of music through their violins for years now. They are the most respected violin act in this part of the world and have collaborated with celebrated musicians from all over the globe in the past. Debshankar and Jyotishankar were born into the family of a classical musician in Kolkata. They began to receive training in violin from Mihir Gupta at the tender age of eight. They started working as professional violinists in their late adolescence. While their profile as violinists grew in stature, the Violin Brothers had the opportunity to play under the direction of great musical maestros such as Pt Ravi Shankar, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and the pair also played background music in the last ten films of the internationally- renowned film director, Satyajit Ray. The duo received their diploma in music from Trinity College of Music, London, in 1987. They were fortunate to have the privilege to play for Zubin Mehta (the then-conductor of New York Philharmonic Orchestra) and received impressive recommendations from him. Initially, the Violin Brothers had their basic training in Indian classical music from their father, Sri Nikhilesh Roy, and later on, they had the opportunity to become the disciple of the Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. Abhisek Lahiri is a professional sarod player based out of the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata. He won the hearts of discerning audiences worldwide with his depth, maturity, and perfection by the age of 28. Abhisek was initiated in sarod at an early age of six and trained under the tutelage of his father as well as guru, eminent sarod player Pt Alok Lahiri. His sarod recital has a blending of three major Gharanas – Senia Maihar, Shajahanpur, and Senia Bangash Gharana (Gwalior). Abhisek’s playing reflects the aestheticism, subtlety, and nostalgic spirituality while combining it with resonant intensity and power to captivate the listener with the originality and beauty of his sarod.
