Frank’s Got The Funk is an indie pop rock LIVE band based out of the capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai. The band was founded in the year 2009. The band is primarily inspired by progressive and electronic rock. Bjorn Surrao, frontman of the band, began it as a five-piece band, but today it is only a two-piece band. FGTF has won several competitions like Deepwoods, NXG Rockstar, Strawberry Fields, IIT Saarang, and many more. The band has also headlined in several colleges. The first album of FGTF was launched in August 2011, titled 'Next Level'. He lives by the motto "Dentistry is Bread and Butter, but Music is My Jam" Part 2 – Barbie Q or Shilpa Natarajan Shilpa Natarajan is an independent musician who quit her corporate career to pursue her passion – music. With two bands and gigs in the city, she also lends her voice to jingles, short films, telefilms and feature films. Aver is a LIVE band based out of the capital of Tamil Nadu, Chennai. The band was formed in 2015 and plays fusion music. The eight-piece Indian contemporary band draw their influences from classical, folk, pop, country, EDM, and dubstep music. They play in a variety of languages to cater to all generations and bring uniqueness to their music. Their name comes from the Latin word, ‘Aver’ which means 'to assert or affirm with confidence,' in addition to its Malayalam meaning, 'they,' representing humanity as a whole. They have played at a lot of venues in and around Chennai like college fests and private and corporate events. A professionally trained percussionist player, Shahvez Deen is a master of instruments. Currently residing in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, he has been indulged with the world of music right since the age of ten. A teacher and a trainer, Shahvez’s passion for music has motivated him to spread his talent. He is a music teacher at St. Agnes Loreto Day School, Lucknow and Pianist at Taj Vivanta, Lucknow as well. All the diners who flock to the latter appreciate his melodious music. “Good music and good food is the perfect recipe for a memorable evening,” remarked one of the guests. His knowledge of the field is so vivid that he has been invited to judge various music competitions in and out of the city. Shakti Chanchal is a professional guitarist based out of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. He is a musician who relishes composing music which has no limitation of any specific genre or style. Shakti believes in creating music that speaks to the soul expressions and emotions that cannot be expressed through words. He has been active for the past six years and has worked with many bands in Lucknow and Delhi. He is inspired by musicians like Marty Friedman, Yanni, Santana, and Thomas Youngblood.

Manu Krishnan is a professional percussionist based out of the capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai. He is talented drummer and teacher, famous for his progressive drumming skills. He has been a demanded session drummer for genres like RnB, blues, fusion, and film industry circles. Manu's father introduced him to the music world when he was just five years old; he taught him Indian Carnatic vocal. He was only eight when he began with learning Mridangam, an Indian percussion instrument. This marked the beginning of his journey as a percussionist. Manu began to learn drums when he turned 14. Later, he began to perform as a solo artist and won several state-level competitions during his higher-secondary school days. He later opted for a diploma in Sound Engineering from Chennai. He then continued his studies from the Trinity College of Music (London). Manu has deep connections with heavy rock he has gradually progressed himself into metal. He has played with several metal bands and has won numerous competitions in India. Manu also teaches at a lot of music schools and imparts private training on various styles and techniques of drumming, from basic to advanced level.

Dev, aka Dev The Batterista, is a professional drummer or percussionist. He has collaborated with artists in acoustic LIVE music acts, symphony orchestra, music producers and similar acts. He received his initial training in playing the tabla. He also plays the djembe, cajone, drums and experiments with various percussion instruments. Dev has been working with various musicians and posess experience in multiple genres like pop, rock, blues, reggae, drum and bass, RnB, soul, funk, world, etc. He used to play with the bands like Ragamuffins and Viru Dada Gang. Currently, Dev performs with the band, Playmores.

Conversational and funny — that’s how Aditya Ravindran, co-founder and vocalist of city-based Tamil rock band Pithukuli, describes their music. Founded last year, after Aditya and fellow KM Conservatory student Karthik Manickavasakam composed a folk rock song titled Kadavule for a college concert. The five-piece acoustic band went on to gain more plaudits for the same song when a few producers from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) came to record Indie bands in the city. This prompted them to continue playing in more concerts and festivals (such as Fete de la Musique and IndiEarth Xchange) after roping in more members — guitarist Sreedev, bassists Prateek Naganatham and Anand Ramesh plus Roshan Singh Chabbara on percussions, who will be replaced by Bishwanath YR for the their upcoming performance at Unwind Center. As not all of their audience know Tamil, Aditya and his team try to keep it simple by composing songs based on some of their daily conversations.

Oorka is a LIVE band based out of the capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai. For them, the world is their stage. There are no planned venues or sets, and they have spontaneously performed everywhere – from villages and suburbs to heritage sites and sandy beaches. "The band, formed in 2014, had its origins in a 'community of musicians'," says its lead singer, Bharath Sankar. The band thought differently from the beginning. Instead of usual venues, they set out on a coastal tour from Chennai to Puducherry, playing wherever they could, and drawing-in intrigued audiences. Their method is unconventional, but for the band, it has become a way to engage with their listeners at a different level. “Music shouldn’t be presented by middlemen, which is why we want to reach out to people directly,” says Bharath. Their debut album with nine tracks got launched on January 26, in the then flood-affected Mudichur. The band, which describes its sound as Tamil retro-rock with vintage tunes, says that they are working on to introduce a new kind of sound and thought. The lyrics are all based on everyday events. So far, their impromptu concerts have been met with more enthusiasm than resistance, even from those in authority. Gideon Santiago on Bass and Backing Vocals He picked up the bass by accident and realized it was his passion. Gideon is a web designer by profession. He is very energetic on stage and plays some technical basslines that make Kerigma sound so great. Gideon has many influences right from Joe Sat to Maiden to Metallica to Dio to Panthera and some more old school metal artists. He is the co-founder of the band. Every gig is special with Gideon as he rips the bass guitar with his fast styles and clean slapping techniques, that is what makes Kerigma's songs so special. Savio Antique on the Drums A drummer in his schooling days, suddenly realized he was good at singing and sang for some of the biggest bands in Chennai during his college days. Suddenly one day, he quitted singing and returned to his roots. Savio is a classic rock and metal-influenced drummer. He loves Megadeth, Maiden, and Metallica. His tight drumming brings the band to the next level and the uniqueness of their sound in most of the songs, right from fast beats to slow ballads, Savio can play them all and kill them all!
