Subhankar Chatterjee is a professional percussionist based out of the capital city of India, New Delhi. He has been trained under his teacher, Arunava Chandra. A singer as well, Subhankar rules the hearts of the audiences every time he performs LIVE. He likes exploring with stuff and uses various kinds of trash and waste to make music out of it. Subhankar has played in various programs, functions, gigs, concerts, etc. He enjoys and loves his work – music.
Very few talents of India are recognised and valued abroad. Sawar Hussain has not only represented India with his music at South Korea and USA but was also invited by the UNESCO to perform at Paris and New York. From performing solo in India as well as abroad to accompanying great artists like Ustad Rashid Khan and many others, Sarwar’s list of achievements cannot be recorded in a single page. Born on October 5,1981 at Gohad district near Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, Sawar lives in Kolkata and is currently a musician at ITC Sangeet Research Academy. His grandfather was a Sarangi exponent and had learnt Sarangi from a famous Sarangi exponent Ustad Bade Ghulam Sabir Khan Ambala wale. Genetically learning Sarangi from his grandfather at a early age of 9, he carried his grandfather’s approach of music forward with ease. He is the only Saragi exponent of this generation who plays the difficult and confusing “tappa” style with confidence. Sarwar’s inevitable aptitude is also appreciated by All India Radio and Doordarshan. He has received many awards for his delightful and enlightening skills.
Sandip Chatterjee is a professional santoor player based out of the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata. A disciple of vocal maestro, Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty, and Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, he is a rich and accomplished santoor player. He has been heralded as the torch bearer of two Gharanas at the same time – Patiala and Maihar. With his magical strokes over strings, he makes his unique melody speak. A deep rooted explorer in himself has helped him give a dynamic approach to his playing style with one hand where he uses his left hand to lift the strings to play the Jod Jhalla, Alap, and a part of bandish (Gat) by creating an ineffable resonance. Sandip’s music has thickly embroidered innumerable ears by reaching out to a greater world. He has been extensively performing in many concerts and music festivals all around the globe. He has also collaborated with many overseas musicians across genres such as rock, jazz, contemporary, and fusion. His collaborations in Calcutta Express with Guy Strazz (jazz guitarist), Shanti with Claudio Gigilio (saxophonist) and Fulvio Farkas (Afro-Cuban percussionist); Emotion with Elin Larsson (Swedish jazz saxophonist), Feelings with Giuliano Modarelli (guitar player) have been very much acclaimed in contemporary world music and jazz genre.
East Wind is an acoustic setup band from Calcutta; a union of musicians of completely different styles and genres which adds a new flavor in it's sound. The lead guitarist, Biswajit plays ukelele and other percussions with the equal perfection with which he writes & composes the songs. Formed in 1999 with a combination of various musicians with diverse backgrounds and musical exposure from Kolkata. One of the most popular bands in all genre, Nucleus are again geared up with the screechy vocals and rock solid music of their early days. The formation was on 1999, then in 2002 when Bubble joined the stage as the frontman, there was no time for looking back. It continued it’s journey to the world of music by winning Country level Competitions, hitting the stages of prestigious college fests as guest band, creating Original Compositions, album recording for HMV, Music Videos etc. The road was really smooth for the band until early 2007, when the front-man moved to USA. The other members of the band still continued with the legacy of doing music, but with various other bands. As they believed that one day NUCLEUS will reunite and will continue from where they stopped. Almost after a decade, 7th Sep 2016 the band reunited and did their first gig and again it was the same chemistry and craziness onstage. “The Show was a HIT”. This time the band has two new members Sushen (Keys) and Arijit aka Sili (Bass). Bubble (Vocals), Pritam (Guitars) and Kushal (Drums) are from the previous set up. Nucleus belts out mostly cover songs from an extensive range and a few originals depending on the audience and the nature of the gig. Hence every Nucleus set list is different from another. onsample is a metal/rock LIVE band based out of the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata. They have been labeled as one of the top metal bands in India, by Pepsi MTV Indies. The band took the Indian metal scene by storm in the year 2010, with their famous debut EP, 'Paraphernalia', which was labeled as the "second best EP release of 2010" by Rock Street Journal. Played and won at: IIT Chennai (Saarang) IIT Guwahati (Rockophoenix) IIT Kgp (Wildfire) The band later became a part of the Great Indian Rock XIV, headlined by Tesseract and Meshuggah. ShredxXx is a LIVE band based out of Kolkata, West Bengal. They are India’s first shred rock/metal band. The band draws their inspiration from artists like Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, Ustad Vilayat Khan, Vinnie Moore, Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony MacAlpine, Cacophony, Judas Priest, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and many more. They mash their guitar shredding skills with classical forms of music like Khandani or traditional music in a way the Eastern music meets the Western one. Oporinoto is a four-piece alternative/progressive band based out of the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata. The genres they mainly play are progressive, ambient, experimental, and alternative. Depending on the principle of rhythm and melody, the band aims to create original music and moving ahead through the boulevard that belongs to its members only. The band has performed a number of times in various clubs, private events, and corporate events. They have been performing LIVE for the last three years, and since then they are setting the stage on fire with their rocking performances. Their live performances are filled with extreme aggression, rapid and technical changes, sudden impacts, pushing the boundaries of musical brutality towards its climax and also the release which takes place afterwards; cooling, conditioning and preparing the atmosphere preparing for the next strike. INFLUENCES: They try to incorporate a lot of different genres into their playing style. A large variety of different sounds ranging from stoner metal to new age and experimental metal are used in their compositions. They have been vastly influenced by technical death metal bands, death-core bands as well as math-core, grind-core and Black metal bands. Ther music is a unique blend of different sounds giving each composition its own unique flavor. Eternity is a LIVE band based out of the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata. The band started its journey with Kausik on vocals and rhythm guitars and Wridzi in lead guitars. The first jamming sessions between the two consisted of composing and covering some songs. Soon after, Santanu (once a junior of Kausik in Jadavpur University) joined the band as the drummer; the band soon recruited Mainak as the bassist and formed the first stable lineup of the band. After a few gigs in this lineup, Mainak left the setup due to some personal reasons and Wridzi took over the bass duties for a gig and Soumyajit joined on guitars. Calcutta Blues is a five-piece LIVE Band, founded in 2005 in Kolkata. Then, the band properly reformed in 2008, with an intention to spread soulful music amongst the young generation of the city. Initially, they faced lot of trouble. But, with their hard work and strong determination, within a very short span of time, they developed their rank in the field of Bangla bands. From the band's lineup, Iman Sen and Ashok Roy, have already participated in the MTV Rock On! They played the song 'Rajkanya' which was a super hit during their auditions. The song 'Smriti', which portrayed the beautiful memories of college life, became almost a theme song of the college students. They have already gained popularity among young generation all over India. Since inception they have appeared on major TV channels like MTV India and Tara Music. They are now performing at major music festivals and college festivals held across India. The band released its debut album, Rajkanya, in 2012 and became the best selling album all over India. Sitar Jugalbandi is a duet of two sitar players based out of the capital of West Bengal, Kolkata. Surashri Abhishek Adhikary and Smt Murchana Adhikary Barthakur unite themselves through the subtle and very intricate unison of sur and taal in their performances, along with the accompaniment of the percussions, resulting in a melodious and divine musical milieu. The audience is led into a mystical journey to the tune of the artists which give them immense pleasure and satisfaction. This binds the audience to the music of the performers and makes them eager to listen and experience its beauty. They have performed their jugalbandi in various music sammelans and have earned great eminence. Their specialty is that they, both husband and wife, belong to two different musical approaches, presenting together to make a unique combination of the two. The understanding and the dialogues between the two sitars creates a very clear and amazing effect on their listeners.
Sabyasachi Deb is a professional bassist based out of the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata. The 24-year old independent musician plays genres like jazz, blues, funk, pop, contemporary, gospel, country, RnB, soul, world music, etc. In the past, Sabyasachi has collaborated with many bands and is also open for professional hiring and freelancing. He has a wide number of YouTube videos which showcases his work as a trained bassist. Sabyasachi has also featured in the song 'Muruga', recorded at Music Mojo Season 4 at Kappa TV.
Lost Icons is a LIVE band based out of the capital city of India, New Delhi. The punk/alternative band was founded in 2014 by punk lovers, Ishan Bhardwaj and Arpit Chaudhary. In late 2014, they completed the line-up with Manuj and Shahnawaz. The band is available for events like LIVE gigs and college festivals across the country.
