Abhanga Repost is a five-piece LIVE band based out of Mumbai, Maharashtra.Tracing back to 2014, it was a tough time how to present Abhangas to the masses. And then, the band came up with this idea of fusing abhangas into modern music, though preserving the essence and richness of the verses and its message. And after a long research and struggle, Abhanga Repost was born. The band started with bass guitarist, Swapnil Tarphe, and drummer, Dush Dev, and later joined by tabla player, Viraj Acharya, who also percieved the same interest, followed by Ajay Vavhal being the band's guitarist and lead vocalist. They both got into the thought of adding someone who was very efficiently versed about abhangas as well as a folk instrument player and after long days of searching, they met Viraj Acharya, an engineering student and an excellent percussionist, posessing common interest. After performing at many venues, Ajay Vavhal and Suyog Gosavi approached the trio for being a part of the band. They mentioned that the only justice they both could do to themselves was by being a member of Abhanga Repost by giving vocals and playing guitars. They play all from full range of power electric sets to simple acoustic gigs. Abhanga Repost only performs abhangas written by saints by fusing it with rock, folk, punk rock, jazz, reggae, fusion, and many more. Pritam Ghoshal is a professional sarod player based out of the capital city of India, New Delhi. He was born into a musical family – Late Shri Jaharlal Ghoshal, his grandfather, used to play the percussions and was a renowned singer. He is survived by a number of disciples today. Shri Arun Kumar Ghoshal, Pritam’s father, and two uncles – Shri Arup Kumar Ghoshal and Shri Barun Kumar Ghoshal – are expert violin, tabla, and singer, respectively, as well. Pritam’s first lesson in vocal music started at the age of 14 under the tutelage of his father. He subsequently came into contact with Shri Pranab Naha, a disciple of the great sarod maestro, Pandit Radhika Mohan Moitra. Shri Naha introduced Pritam to the sarod. After the initial three years of Talim, he was fortunate to receive the blessings of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, the great sarod maestro; in 1995, he accepted Pritam as his disciple.
